A board-certified Neurologist, Dr. VanPelt holds a PhD in Pharmacology and presents with more than 20 years of drug development expertise in the pharmaceutical industry and academia. She is a rare diseases expert and a pioneer in the field of applied theranostic for the development of disease-modifying treatments for neurologic disorders.
Dr. VanPelt has founded StratMedica in 2009 and managed successfully a number of medical affairs and development programs as well as contributed to licensing/acquisition activities and strategic therapeutic positioning of therapeutic and diagnostic assets.
Her tenure in the pharmaceutical industry includes leadership roles as Chief Medical Officer at Helius Medical, Inc. as well as Founder & CEO at Thera Neuropharma & Synaerion Therapeutics, Head of Medical Strategy, Neurology at Lundbeck, Head of Medical Affairs of Luitpold and Piramal Imaging, and Head of Regulatory Affairs at ProEd. Throughout her career, Dr. Favit-VanPelt has developed groundbreaking medical and clinical strategies for CNS and rare disorders, built medical functions and overseen a number of translational and registration programs, product launches, market access programs, licensing and due diligence activities.
Following her neurology and psychiatric training, Dr. VanPelt started, in 1994, her clinical practice activity with specialist neurology clinics in Europe where she continues her involvement to date providing specialized management of patients with complex neuromuscular disorders and rare neurologic diseases.
Maria Sangue, PhD

A serial entrepreneur, Dr. Sangue holds a PhD in Mathematics and Physics and has spent over 25 years in the drug development business and developed an outstanding commercial and marketing expertise in the pharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Sangue has acquired StratMedica in 2014. She has managed successfully a number of drug development programs. She has also contributed to several licensing/acquisition activities and advised on the strategic positioning of therapeutic and diagnostic assets.
Dr. Sangue has a long standing tenure in the pharmaceutical industry. She has developed successful commercial strategies leading to the marketing of treatments for many diseases. She has created commercial functions, overseen product launches and supported market access, licensing and due diligence activities.
